Metallica: Lars on rocking Yankee Stadium
Backstage at Yankee Stadium, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich told Rolling Stone that his band couldn’t refuse an invitation to bring their Big 4 show with Anthrax, Slayer and Megadeth to the home of the Bronx Bombers. “There’s never been a hard rock experience in Yankee Stadium,” says Ulrich. “Ninety-nine percent of the rock experiences in New York are at Giants Stadium, the Meadowlands thing. So anytime Metallica gets a chance to do anything that’s unique and different… getting to come here to the hallowed grounds of Yankee Stadium was something we couldn’t say no to.” Related• The Big 4 Put Aside Their Differences for Spectacular Metal Show • The Big 4 on Their Supposed Rivalry • Anthrax’s Scott Ian on Playing Yankee Stadium

Everything was incredible – the only thing I found disappointing was that they didn’t play “Am I Evil”. Don’t get me wrong – the Overkill jam was bad ass – but they still should have played Am I Evil.

@newkeru87 do you play better than him?

Considering that Enter Sandman has been played in Yankee Stadium (both iterations) more times than at possibly any other venue in the last 15 years certainly means something as well, and that’s why it’s great they could do this show, especially on a night when Mariano Rivera tied the all time saves record in Toronto.

The only thing missing is him using the third person. “So the Yankees called Lars Ulrich and Lars said as long as we rock the greater ny area like we did Coachella and of course, the RRHOF which were elected to, of course then yeah Lars will hit a home run, if you will. “. How fantastically fucked up and awesome is Lars.

I don’t care what anyone says Lars is the man.

@phantomlord1981 Captain Obvious, thanks for letting us know its an interview. Let me clarify, I love Metallica and Lars is an awesome musician. But the guy is so full of himself and just loves to talk and talk and probably talk to the wall if it could speak.

@Rofpo3233 It really wouldn’t surprise me if he does play better.

@LegguhVids
Lars Drums were too loud? That’s the first time the drums were that loud since the 90′s!

@newkeru87 Lars is a human and has human traits like all of us. He isn’t Neal Peart behind the drum kit, and he isn’t the best at what he does, but his playing fits Metallica perfectly. As a fan of Metallica I appreciate his creativity as much as his drumming. Without Lars putting together Metallica, thrash would be missing a huge chunk of music. All we as fans have to worry about is the music they put out and if they go on tour or not. I’ll take Lars over Mr. Rose any day.

I’m so pissed I missed this concert. Then again, I’m so pissed that talentless fuck is still drumming for Metallica. He should’ve gotten the boot along with Bob Rock.
